Workshop with Wallara - A Week of 3D Printing

Monday to Friday, 15th to 19th of July, 2024

10:00am - 04:00pm

Each day of the week begins with the clients being encouraged to use 3D printed pieces of miniature furniture to design their dream homes.

The room transforms into an innovative architectural playground as clients arrange furniture and designate spaces like kitchens and bedrooms.

MATT members provide gentle guidance and encouragement throughout the process, supporting clients’ creativity and explaining the mechanics behind 3D printing.

Activity 1: Design Your Dream House

The next activity focuses on designing personalised puzzle piece keychains.

With the help of volunteers, clients sketch their designs, which are then turned into 3D models using MATT’s software.

This project offers a rewarding opportunity for clients to create a unique keepsake that reflects their personal creativity.

Some designs even depict the clients’ favourite footy teams!

Activity 3: Sculpt and Scan with Playdough

To end the workshop days, clients use playdough to sculpt their own objects and animals.

These creations are then scanned with specialised software for 3D printing.

This activity combines imagination with technology, transforming the playdough into digital models ready for 3D printing.

This also fosters a sense of community, with clients sharing their creations and experiences.

As the workshop concludes, clients receive their custom keychains and other 3D-printed creations.

The MATT team reflects on the day’s activities with the clients, answering questions about technology and encouraging ongoing STEAM engagement.

Persa, a Wallara coach, affirms:

“The experience this week with MATT has been amazing. Wallara clients have been well engaged, the students assisting were attentive and the innovation of the product exhibited were fantastic”.

For MATT, the workshop is more than just a teaching session; it’s an opportunity to inspire and connect with the Wallara community.
