This project will further iterate an ultra-low cost prototype design developed by researchers, with the goal of producing a robust, reliable, low cost, and accessible open source diy kit, and software.
Refreshable tactile and braille displays offer the blind and low vision community an important alternative mode of accessing digital text and graphics. However, these devices are extremely expensive due to the inherent cost of the thousands of complex, individual electromechanical actuators that make up the displays.
